Meandering Architecture

This is a collection of pen and ink drawings of architecturescapes, as I have come to call them. Often starting with a door or staircase, I grow the building out in all directions from that starting point.

They started in sketchbooks, then grew from there. I continued to gravitate towards this surreal ever-growing architecture, which quickly became a mentally engaging puzzle of my own creation. This was my go-to drawing subject when I wanted to draw but did not know what to draw.

Inspired by my time in old cites with exciting architecture, from my time in living outside of Stuttgart, Germany as a child and teen, and the following decade of growing into adulthood in Providence, RI, USA. Both cities with rich architectural history and range, the variety in structure, adornment, and city planning deeply inspired me, filling my visual memory with architectural details and building materials.
